This weekend I had the honor of cheering on a group of wonderful students from Green Level High School in Cary for the North Carolina Advocates for Justice High School Mock Trial Competition. I served as the Attorney- Coach for this team. We met several times over the past few months by Zoom. The students sent me their proposed witness examinations, opening and closing arguments, and they refined their case every time I gave them feedback. On Saturday, February 5th, we all met at the high school for the Regional Competition, which was conducted by Zoom. Over 75 teams competed.
Our team was excellent! These students were relentless in their commitment to excellence, and they were a joy to work with. If any of them choose to become lawyers, I have no doubt they are capable of having very successful legal careers. These students renewed my faith in young people having a passion for learning.
